Policy Council

The COTRAIC Policy Council is composed of parents and other members of the local community. The Policy Council assists to govern the Head Start and Early Head Start programs in a number of ways. It is the primary way that parents participate in the administration of Head Start and Early Head Start.

Parent involvement in Head Start and Early Head Start, both in the classroom and in the administration of the program, is a cornerstone of its success. Policy Councils are integral to an effective Board of Directors. They work in concert not only to effectively administer the program, but also to develop strong relationships in the community.

Training

Policy Council receives required training from COTRAIC to ensure that they are able to carry out their governance responsibilities effectively. Policy Council is responsible to coordinate activities that maximize the involvement of parents in the program, and assist in the recruitment of volunteer services by parents and community organizations.
