Home-based Services
For pregnant women and families with children birth to 3 years.
A certified parent educator will work with you and your child, providing child development information, parent and child interaction activities, and parenting information. The home visitor will monitor your child’s development and provide informal vision and hearing screenings.
Children will receive:
Weekly one-on-one visits with child and family
Individualized child development plan
Developmentally appropriate learning support
Occasional summer field trips
Supporting Enrolled Home-based Families
Play Groups (aka Socialization)
Enrolled families are encouraged to come to play groups and parent meetings.
We discuss ways to cope with the stresses of raising young children, discipline techniques, toilet training, feeding concerns and other parenting issues.
We invite professional speakers to share information about nutrition, healthcare, early literacy and various other parenting topics.
Home Visiting Program Expectations
The Early Head Start Home Visitor will:
Visit your home weekly. Both the Home Visitor and the Parent will agree on the date and time of the visit
Help you learn more about child development and parenting
Provide recreational and social events for you and your child
Bring resources to you and your child
Help you and your family set and meet goals.
Help you work with any necessary community agencies to create healthy environments for you and your family.
Professionals
Health Coordinator/Specialist
Health Coordinator/Specialist ensures the tracking of your child’s health care information. They visit homes to perform vision and hearing screenings as well as providing assistance with health issues which may arise.
Healthy Child
Healthy Child supports families, providing developmental, behavioral, and mental health support to children and facilitating consultation, intervention, and mentoring/education for caregivers and parents.
Family Participation
Home-based Services
Parent(s) will:
Be an active participant in each weekly home visit and bi-monthly socialization period.
Be available and on time for home visits.
Assist in completing paperwork such as developmental assessments
Share health information such as well-visits and immunizations
Provide a quiet place to visit so that we can hear your child clearly and concentrate on our discussions.
Call to cancel our visit in case of emergency. We will reschedule the home visit with you at a mutually agreed upon time.
Parent and child will participate in two group meeting/socialization experiences each month if they wish.
